The Detroit News: Insurance bills will wreak havoc on small businesses
Two bills currently being considered in the Legislature would create new demands on insurance companies regarding how they process and pay claims. House Bill 4681 and Senate Bill 329 have the potential to wreak havoc on small businesses across our state.
The increased costs associated with these bills could be crippling for small businesses already struggling to stay afloat during these challenging times. With potential premium hikes and delayed claim settlements, local entrepreneurs may find it increasingly difficult to maintain affordable insurance coverage, adding unnecessary burdens to small business ownership. This legislation could also open the door to increased fraud and more drawn-out legal disputes. The costs to insurers would be passed on to consumers. Michigan lawmakers should prioritize the state's businesses and focus on policies that support and empower our local economy.
